Hello! My name is Anna Hamrell, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist in private practice. I specialize in individual therapy, and my goal is to empower you to be your best self in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment.
I strive to help individuals overcome personal obstacles, by identifying what strong natural skills, strengths and talents they possess. I take into account not only the person as a whole being, but also what contributing role that societal and environment factors may play. I focus on a series of steps that clients can take to produce immediate results, further building on their strengths to reach attainable goals.
I presently work with people over the age of 18 and use eclectic, evidence based approaches that are strength based and holistic, guided by the individual needs of the client.

What is CBT?
A powerful form of treatment that focuses on the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behavior. CBT is the treatment of choice for many issues including depression and low self-esteem, as well as anxiety, phobias and panic attacks. CBT is goal-oriented and a “here and now” approach that offers a short-term and structured intervention.
What is DBT?
A type of cognitive behavioral therapy that teaches you skills to:
DBT is based on the idea that change occurs when working with the two opposite notions of acceptance and change. It is effective in Borderline Personality Disorder as well as a wide variety of mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety.
What is ACT?
A cognitive behavior therapy that teaches people to accept and embrace their thoughts and emotions, and commit to living with whatever “shows up” in life. ACT teaches mindfulness skills and strategies to help people focus on the present moment and to help strengthen their ability to cope and deal with their current emotions and situation.
What is it?
A form of positive psychotherapy/counseling that focuses on the person’s strengths and attributes, versus their weaknesses and failures. There are many past and present successes in each of us and identifying these assets helps to set a positive mindset and attitude in life. Instead of focusing on “what can go wrong” perhaps it is more beneficial to direct our efforts to “what can go right”.
